Based on the true story of Louisa Gould, the drama is set during World War II on the Nazi-occupied island of Jersey. Lou took in an escaped Russian POW and hid him over the war's course. The tension mounts as it becomes clear that Churchill will not risk an assault to recapture the British soil, and the island community spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty. Against this backdrop, Lou fights to preserve her family's sense of humanity and to protect the Russian boy as if he was her own.

Summer Fete

Floral Hall and Victoria Gardens

Our second Summer Fete will take place on Saturday 12th August from 10 am – 4 pm. This year it will be bigger and better
The fete will be opened by the Mayor at 10.15am supported by John and his Bagpipes. The Mayor will then take a walk around the gardens to visit the various stalls and play a few games.

In the Gardens

Dave the donkey and his friends will be giving rides to all the children around the lower grass area.
11 am the Canine friends will do a demonstration and at
11.30am Punch and Judy will be performing aided by Billy Biscuit who will be busy throughout the day making balloon animals for everyone.
Chloe and her face painting expertise will be in the Marquee waiting to decorate faces.
Come along, have a go at Hoop La, Pick a Duck, Splat the Rat, the Mug game, the Spinning Wheel and put your hands in and discover what is in the boxes !!!
12.15 The Box Car Pickers will be playing in the gardens keeping everyone entertained, and at
1.30pm the Canine friends will do another demonstration of their work.
2.30 sees the return of Punch and Judy and the
Box Car Pickers will continue to entertain until the finish.

In the Hall
10.45 am children please gather on stage for the Fancy dress competition. Under 7s; then Over 7s. There is no set theme for Fancy dress, it is anything you choose.
11.00am The Lady Mayor will judge the Fancy Dress and then present the prizes.
Come and see all the stalls and crafts in the Hall, take a seat, and enjoy the entertainment. Get yourself a drink from the bar or bring your tea down to the Hall from the café. Whilst you are there Rob, the Magician will be quietly moving amongst you doing his magic
11.30am Brian Rolax will entertain us with his playing of the saxophone followed by Matt singing with his guitar.
12.45 songs we all know
1.30pm, Rob the Magician will give a short demonstration of his skills.
2 pm Brid Beat a popular group from Bridlington will sing songs of the fifties and sixties
